SAVE AS DIALOG, SAVE AS ORIGINAL FILE NAME NOT WORKING
Reply Quote
I created a Task Printer and attempted to convert a batch of TIF files to JPG. In the SAVE AS dialog, I chose Save as Original File Name. What I got from this was all of the files named after one file name, not the original file name for each file. I also noted an additional number added sequentially to the end of each file.

What I want is to save the JPG files as the original file name appropriate for each file, not all named after the same file, and I don't want any numbers being added to the end of each file name.

How do I do this?

Hello Mark,

When you create the task printer, in the SAVE AS dialog, press the Naming Options button. In the Naming Options dialog make sure the Template box only contains "". By default it will contain "", which is not what you want. Once you set the Template to "", you will see the sample results in the box below. You can click OK in the Naming Options dialog and then finish setting up the Task Printer. This will remove any suffixes from the resulting files.

If you are converting TIFF files, you may have multiple pages in the TIFF file. For example, if the TIFF file has 2 pages, then the second page will overwrite the first page, because you will be writing to the same JPG file.

Thanks

The use of "" as a template was not successful. The error message states that the template cannot be blank and cannot use characters containing \;?<>/.

What next?

If the tiff file contains multiple pages, how do I conduct the conversion without overwriting the file?

I conducted a file conversion done one file at a time (see original and attached JPG file). When 1 file is chosen and saved, the conversion works fine and no additional characters are added to the name. I simply want to conduct this conversion in a batch mode the same way.

Hello Mark,

Sorry, that was my mistake. The forum removed the information between the quotes. I will mark it as code so it is visible.

The Template should be set to "<SRC>" without the quotes.

I've also attached a screenshot just in case.

In order to do this you will have to have a suffix. So you have to change the template back to the default.

Didn't work as described (see attached). Only 1 file of many was converted and the suffix is still there.

The attached screenshot is all gray. Can you post it again or zip it up and attach it?

Thanks

This is a fluorescent microscope picture, and it looks like it is supposed to. The translation of the image is not the problem - it works perfectly. The problem is batch translation of files without adding suffixes or having 60 files chosen for conversion, and only 1 converts.

I've attached screen shots from Eprint and the output file from the batch print of 58 images. Only 1 image was converted, and the file suffix obtained using the naming template is as follows
"<SRC&qt;" which is identical to the template naming option described earlier
"<SRC>"

Unfortunately, the forum software stripped the attachment off. Let me add it again in a different format.

You will want to do it as shown in the attached screenshot. The browser/forums are modifying the text I am trying to write so it wasn't clear. But you will see in the screenshot how it is "left angle" SRC "right angle".

I've added the modifier "<SRC&qt;" enclosed by the < and > , and I received an error message that I could not use any template with < and > figures.

Can you show me a screenshot of the error and the Template box? With my above screenshot I did not receive any errors, so what you are seeing is an odd behavior.

Thank You
