03-22-2007, 19:54 Delphian Joined on 02-10-2007 Posts 2 MPEG2 Encoder Slowness Is it just me doing something wrong??? I have been experimenting with the MM and DVD modules. I find your MPEG2 encoder is not just slow but extremely slow. Using GraphEdt and a 60 second DVSD AVI File CPU: P4 226MHZ, 512MB Ram, Drive UltraATA 7200rpm Your graph: AviFile > AviSplitter > DV Decoder > LT MPEG Encoder V2 > LT MPegMultiplexer > FileWriter (or your DVD Writer) Audio is fed to the Multiplexer via the LT AC3 Encoder In your graph it the 60 second video takes 4 minutes and 30 seconds to encode MainConcept: AviFile > AviSplitter > MPEG Encoder&Mux > FileWriter (or your DVD Writer) Audio is fed direct to the Mux In the Mainconcept it takes 1 minute 20 seconds All encoders were set for DVD NTSC 720x480 29.97 constant BR at 6000 and audio at 224k I've tested a few other with slightly slower times but nothing more than 2 minutes. (essien, etc) WHY??? Is it because it is the eval? Or is your's just that slow?? Humm, I mean this would be ridiculous to deliver this type of speed to a customer.    Report

03-26-2007, 13:35 GregR Joined on 05-31-2006 In House Posts 1,705 Re: MPEG2 Encoder Slowness I sent you an email about this as well since you sent to us, but I'm still posting the response so others can see the response.  Feel free to reply to whichever you wish, but please only respond to one in order to keep it simple. The graphs are so different, so it is difficult to say that one is truly faster than the other.  If you really want to tell the difference, you should make sure you use the same graph and ONLY change the MPEG encoder.  The audio encoder is different and the DV decoder is different as well.  Since it's only text, there might even be other things that are different that you have left out. Try using the Convert demo that comes with the toolkit.  This way you can make sure you're using the same graph but only using a different video decoder from one conversion to another.  Compare the graphs and times that way. Additionally, the video encoder quality might be higher by default in LEADTOOLS than it is in your other one.  Click the properties button after you've selected the video encoder to change the settings and make sure both decoders are producing the same or very similar quality output and video size. If it is still considerably slower, then please send me the video clip you are converting and a link to download the other encoder you are comparing LEADTOOLS' to so I can investigate it more here. NOTE: If you are attaching a project or file to the forums... 1.) Zip the file(s) up. 2.) Make sure it is less than 5 MB.  If it is larger, please send an email to support@leadtools.com or  give us your email address and we'll send you FTP instructions. 3.) Remove ANY AND ALL unlock codes and LEADTOOLS DLLs. 4.) Do not click the preview button, the attachment will not show up when you post it.   If you do not wish to post your file(s) on the forum since they are publically viewable, please send an email to support@leadtools.com and make sure that you include a link to this forum post.  Since you've already sent an email, it may be easier to just continue that way, but it's up to you.
