04-09-2007, 8:26 amitt Joined on 03-15-2007 Posts 6 Image Compression Hi       We are using some image compression format and saving the imagw with .tif .I want to reduce the size for the image to minimum also the quality should be moderate.Scan the same document with different options.Size used for document is 8.5 X 11. Black & white  : Saved size  156 KB Bits : 1 Quality : 124 Compression : FILE_CCITT_GROUP4 Resolution : 300  GreyScale : Saved size   83.3 KB Bits : 8 Quality : 124 Compression : FILE_TIF_JPEG Resolution : 300 Color Image : Size size 83.9 KB Bits : 8 Quality : 124 Compression : FILE_TIF_PACKBITS Resolution : 100 Hi Color  saved size 83.3 KB Bits : 24 Quality : 124 Compression : FILE_TIF_JPEG Resolution : 100       Suggest the best compression technique for all above which work better with Leadtools 14.5.So that images are stored in smaller size with the quality    Report

04-10-2007, 15:37 GregR Joined on 05-31-2006 In House Posts 1,806 Re: Image Compression For black and white images, TIFF_CCITT_G4 is the best compression.  For Grayscale or Color, use TIFF_JPEG_411 with a high QFactor if image quality is not of great concern.  If Image quality IS a concern, then use either a lower QFactor and/or JPEG_422 or even better JPEG_444 (which is just JPEG). Also consider scanning the images in at a lower resolution if you don't mind losing some quality. Greg Ross LEADTOOLS Technical Support    Report
