Which codec do I need?

Attachment: GSpot Screenshot.jpg
To know if LEAD has a codec to meet your needs, it is important to know which codec was used to encode your multimedia file(s). CODEC stands for Compressor Decompressor and to simplify the complicated explanation, they allow you to reduce the size of your multimedia files.

Normally you would not have to interact with codecs, but occasionally a video file will require a codec that has not been installed on your machine for whatever reason. Multimedia applications (such as M²Convert) requires the codecs to be on your machine in order to convert the files. There are several applications available that can tell you this information. One free and popular application is called GSpot and is available from:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

It is important to note that GSpot is not affiliated with LEAD Technologies or M²Solutions, and we can not be responsible to support that application or any problems that may result from running GSpot. There are many users using this application however, so it is not difficult to find the information you need. If you have trouble using GSpot to determine your codec, a few minutes of using a search engine should help you overcome any problems you might encounter. There is a screenshot of version 2.7 attached which should also help guide you to the information we need once you run the application.
