Distributing to client for PDF support
Reply Quote
Hello,
LeadTools Raster Image Pro + PDF Plugin.

We are still using LT 15 evaluation - although I understand we have just ordered two full licences.
I am trying to test my app on a client machine and cannot get the pdf plugin to work.
Othere file types, such as jpg, are loading fine.

We have:
1. Copied the pdf and sub-directories to a directory on their machine,
2. Set-up their registry as per the instructions and copied what we thought were the relevant dlls (according to the chm file) from the Program Files\LEAD Technologies\LEADTOOLS Class Library EVAL 15\Bin\API\Win32 directory,
3. Copied the PdfDll32.dll from Program Files\LEAD Technologies\LEADTOOLS Class Library EVAL 15\Redist\API\Win32.

But my application is still reporting unsupported file format.
We then copied ALL the dlls from the main win32 directory, again with no success.

Will the evaluation version not run on a client machine without installing the SDK?

Jordan

Jordan,
If you copy the PdfDll32.dll to your SYSTEM32 folder, does it work correctly?
Please check the help topic 'Implementing PDF Plug in Features' and "Files to be Included with Your Application" for more information regarding your application deployment.

Hello Adam
Thank you for the very speedy response.
We have copied the pdfdll32.dll to the system32 directory and it still doesn't work.
I have read the section regarding files to be included, including the bit specific to Pdf's about creating the pdf and 3 sub-folders and creating the registry entry - many times.... :(
Any other ideas?
Jordan

Hi Again
Magically it started working. We took the pdfdll32.dll back out of system32, restarted our app and it still works. So I'm not sure why it wasn't working before, and why it does now.
Anyway, thank you for your attention.

Jordan,
I'm not sure of what caused the problem in the first place, and what solved it. However, in version 15, you do not need to put the PdfDll32.dll in the SYSTEM32 folder. Instead, put it in the same folder that has the application's EXE.
Also, you do not need to modify the registry, but instead can use the PDF engine path functions, such as L_SetPDFInitDir.
