Do you mean you want to know which codec is used in a video? If yes, you can use 'GSpot' utility. For more information, see the following post:

What LEAD product are you using to convert to MPEG-4?

yes, GSpot is the utility i want. Thanks.

Currently, I have LeadTool Mulitmedia Suit and Medical Suit. I want like to capture a video from s-video and compress by MPEG2 or MPEG4. What can I do with the LEAD product?

In fact, I am a dummy on video compression. I want to know more on MPEG2 compression provided by LEAD product. Thanks

You can use our Capture control (part of the multimedia toolkit) to capture video from a capture device and save it to a video file, you can also set the compression used in this file. Try our pre-built 'Capture' Demo that ships with the toolkit.

There is a difference between the MPEG2 compression and the MPEG2 container. You can Have MPEG2 compressed data within a non-MPEG2 container. But the MPEG2 container should contain MPEG2-Compatible compressed data. Our LEAD MPEG-2 compressor produces a standard MPEG2 data.

Hi Adam,

As a search in wiki, there many compression codes within MPEG4 Container.
I have tried the demo, however, i feel confusing about the compression. Which part of the MPEG4 does the LEAD product implemented?

Apart from this, what compression codes would you recommand for medical video and images? especially for endoscopy

Our MPEG4 compressor and decompressor support ISO/IEC 14496-2, which is a video compression standard.

I'm not sure if there's a mandatory or preferred compression standard for use with endoscopy, but our LEAD DICOM Writer DirectShow filter uses MPEG2 compression when storing a data set that has a DICOM Class of Video Endoscopic Image Storage.
