Windows 7 64bit

I know it is still not the final version but I would really like to get ePrint to work with Windows 7 64bit. I downloaded the latest version and ran the install and no errors were reported. The Lead Tools printer driver does not appear in the Printers dialog box.

Does ePrint work in Vista 64bit?

Any Suggestions?

ePrint.exe: ver 5.0.1.119, Date 12/18/2008

Thanks

Richard

Richard,

We didn't test ePrint under Windows 7 64bit, because it's still a pre-release version. We do not claim support for any version of Windows before it is officially released.

About using ePrint under Windows Vista 64bit, LEADTOOLS ePrint 5 should work properly under Windows Vista 64bit. Do you face any problem when using ePrint under windows Vista?

Thanks,

I haven't tried it under Vista 64, but if it works under Vista 64, in theory it should work under Windows 7, which is not the case.

I don't understand your reasoning for waiting until Windows 7 is finally released before you start to test. Microsoft has released this version so VAR's can can have a working version of their software when the final version of Windows 7 is released. One of the reasons that everyone hated Vista was there were no drivers for the 3rd party hardware and software.

It seems you took this approach with Vista, "ePrint currently doesn't work on 64-bit environments.  We are porting it, but there is no estimated time frame on when it might be done." 12-4-2006 http://support.leadtools.com/SupportPortal/CS/forums/9999/ShowPost.aspx Please don't do the same thing again and start testing now.

I have been in IT support for 15 years and know my way around the windows OS, I am more than willing to help do any troubleshooting if you want.

Thanks

Richard

We will most likely have released an edition of ePrint that works with Windows 7 by the time it is released. However, this is not an official release date for ePrint. It is just a prediction based on how we supported earlier versions of Windows.

The forum post you mentioned was made on December 4, 2006. At that time, the Retail edition of Vista was not still released. It was only released at the end of January 2007.
Our policy has not changed. Although our engineers will be doing testing and development to be ready for Windows 7, we will not make any official releases until it's officially released by Microsoft.

We don't have a Beta testing program, but if you contact sales@leadtools.com they might consider your kind offer if it was possible.

Thanks,
