10-12-2007, 9:04 brettcelica Joined on 12-26-2006 Posts 8 devenv.exe (VS 2005 SP1) errors related to leadtools.annotations Hi, I'm getting devenv.exe crashes on an almost hourly basis which i believe are related to leadtools.annotations, as this is not happening in any of my other projects that do not reference the lead library. The error is not logged to event viewer, but the "Visual Studio encountered an error and needs to close" popup indicates the following: EventType : clr20r3 P1 : devenv.exe P2 : 8.0.50727.762 P3 : 45716759 P4 : leadtools.annotations P5 : 15.0.0.0 P6 : 4553886d P7 : 2b8 P8 : 0 P9 : system.io.filenotfoundexception Leading me to suspect that there is something internal or with my annotations implementation that is looking for a invalid file. I have double checked that any properties that are related to my implementation of leadtools.annotations that look for the annotations file related to an image do not attempt to access invalid object references at design time. This crash is ocurring when I am viewing various forms in design view in the IDE. I'm wondering if anyone else is facing these type of problems or if there is an updated leadtools.annotations dll i should be using. Thanks, Brett    Report

Problem is definitely with the dll or some code I have that calls the annotation functions.    Report

10-12-2007, 17:17 jigar Joined on 08-22-2007 Posts 453 Re: devenv.exe (VS 2005 SP1) errors related to leadtools.annotations Hello, From the error message it seems your are using v15.0.0.0.  We have updated patches.  The patches aren't public so if you send us an email at support@leadtools.com with your serial number and version, and we will send you the instructions for them.  After you apply the patches, you will have to remove the reference to the annotation DLLs and also recreate any annotation objects that were created in the designer mode.  If that doesn't fix it, we will proceed futher. One more thing, are you running Vista by any chance?  Also are you on a 32-bit system or 64-bit system? LEADTOOLS Technical Support    Report

We are running VS2005(SP1) on XP_SP2 (32bit). We have the latest patch of LT15 as of 07/24/2008. Has there been any other resolution to this issue?    Report

Others in my office can not, none of us has the LeadTools dll's GAC'd, that was one of the things I was thinking we should try though so I am going to recommend it and see what happens.    Report

08-18-2008, 10:08 jigar Joined on 08-22-2007 Posts 453 Re: devenv.exe (VS 2005 SP1) errors related to leadtools.annotations In that case, try installing the VS2005 SP1 VC++ Redist on one of the office machines and see if that fixes the problem.  Are ALL the machines in the office not able to run?  What is the exact version of the Leadtools.Annotations.dll (ltann15u.dll) deployed on the office machines?
