11-11-2007, 3:16 Ahhh Joined on 11-07-2007 Posts 8 How to change W/C for dcm Files? Hi, I want to change W/C for dcm files. I know one way that using L_ApplyLinearVOILUT. But it doesn't work when the bitmap is 8bpp image. In the help, I found some functions that control W/C, for example, L_WindowLevel, L_WindowLevelBitmap and L_WindowLevelFillLUT. But I can't understand well about them. So what I want is to give me some information about them and some samples as soon as possible. Regard.    Report

What do you mean by W/C?  Window Width and Center or something else?  Please explain what you are trying to do in more detail. You cannot window level 8bpp images, only 12 or 16 bpp images.  The reason Window level exists is because Windows can only display 256 shades of gray, which is exactly what 8bpp is.  Window leveling allows the user to adjust what 256 colors get displayed for what pixel values when the pixels are 12 or 16 bits of data.  Therefore window leveling an image that only has 256 colors is of no use because there isn't any loss of image data due to the limitations of Windows.
