Once ePrint is selected, can't change to different printer
Reply Quote
I have just started using ePrint5 to allow creation of tiff or pdf files for emailing graphic images generated from a program I am developing.  The ePrint driver works great and is just what I needed, but it is persisting as the printer device even when a different printer is selected from the standard Windows printer dialogs.  I have to exit out of the program I am developing and restart it to allow selection of a different print device.  I am hoping that there is a fix for this or a workaround.

Thanks,
-Bob

Hello Bob,

ePrint shouldn't be taking over the printer dialog.  Could it be someting in your program logic that is selecting the first printer selected?  What if you start your program and select a physical printer.  Once it prints, do another print to ePrint and see if it still prints to the physical printer.

Thanks.

Thanks jigar,

There may be something going on in the program, but I haven't had time to dig in there yet.  But I have tried your suggestion and it will print from the physical printer first and then, if selected next, ePrint will function as expected.  If there isn't a setting in ePrint that has some control over this then I suspect you are right about my code being the culprit.  I am using a Kodak Imaging control for some of the functionality and it doesn't use the standard Windows dialog to select printers and there may be something there that needs attention.

Yes, that is correct.  Our ePrint driver is a regular printer driver that prints to a file.  You can create a "task printer" from the Start menu under the ePrint section.  It will create another print-to-file printer (with the options that you specify), and you can see if your program gets "stuck" on that printer.
