Recommendation for T-Shaped Registration Marks
Reply Quote
Are there any recommendations for creating T-Shaped Registration marks that are recognized correctly by LeadTools software? For example is there a minimum height, width of the T-Shape. Recommended line thickness, height to width ratio, size to linewidth ratio, etc.? Orientation ? T-Shape size to text size ratio?
Thanks for any suggestions.

We don't have any official recommended parameters for the Registration Marks.  The SDK ships with a registration marks demo as well as a sample reference and test images (<LEADTOOLS>\Images\RGSRef.cmp and RGSTest.cmp).  This demo was set up for these images and uses a width of 31, height of 29, min size ratio of 90%, and max size ratio of 110%.  I'd say if you make your registration marks like the ones in these demos, you'll have pretty good success.

Hi Greg:
The Width 31 (pixels) and Height 29 (pixels) is for the image RGSRef.cmp which has a 96 dpi resolution. Does this mean that if an image has double the resolution (say 192 d.p.i.) the size of the T-Shaped Registration Mark may be half the size (16 pixels wide by 15 pixels high) ?
Thanks.

I apologize for not being more clear, I didn't think about the effects of different DPI.

The registration marks would be printed on the image, and are used so that when it gets scanned in crooked, it will get aligned properly according to the original.  Therefore, the registration marks would be proportional.  If you double the input DPI compared to the original, then you would double the size of the registration marks, so they would be 62 x 58.

I would suggest thinking of the registration marks more in terms of paper dimensions (inches, mm, etc.) rather than pixels so that when you scan the image in, you can determine the size the registration marks should be based on the DPI of the image.
